This Long Island bred songwriter and vocalist has a deep appreciation for gospel and jazz as well as good old soulful rhythm and blues. Chrisette, like most aspiring artists, got her start singing in church as well as open mics. She began her professional singing career while gigging at the “Village Underground” in NYC when she met India Arie. Arie was blown away with Chrisette’s style and vocal ability, that she offered her to be her opening act on tour. From this opportunity, Chrisette also toured with recording artist, Kem. This was the beginning of her career. In between touring, Chrisette wrote and recorded demos. She’s been writing songs since the age of 12 and sang her first solo at age 4. By the time she was offered a contract from Def Jam records, she already had an album worth of material. Her goal is to create a seamless album that mixes soul and pop in a way that will have people coming back to again and again.
Chrisette is most proud of her collaboration with Babyface on this album. She recorded seven songs with Babyface, four of which are on her debut album, “I am” which is in stores now.
When speaking of this experience, Chrisette states, “Observing the artistry that Babyface possesses has hopefully made me a better performer as well”.
Congrats Chrisette, we look forward to hearing more from you!
