Where has Maxwell been? Since his last CD in 2001, he’s performed little, made few appearances (most recently the 2008 BET Awards), teased segments of a track or two on his myspace page (but never a whole song), and outside of a few lucky folk to catch him roller-blading around his New York Neighborhood, he’s been pretty much out of sight much to the dismay of fans. Since signing his Columbia Records contract in 1994, Maxwell has gradually risen to become one of the most important artists in contemporary music. His October return to public performance in New York created such a buzz that tickets literally were spoken for before they went on sale. Maxwell’s next project is slated to be called “Black Summer’s Night” and while there’s no official release date, fans are hoping his upcoming tour is a sign that a new Maxwell album will be in our IPods sooner than later.
