Tamia

Tamia was born in 1975 in Windsor, Ontario. She grew up in the inner city with her mother and three younger brothers. She was exposed to music at an early age, including gospel and r&b and developed a passion for singing at the age of six. By the age of 12 she had already begun participating in different musicals to develop her skills. She went on to study at a performing arts school where she developed her music skills even further, and once she entered adult hood she was already a singing professional.

She gained the attention of music producers and started working on her first album in 1995 entitled, Tamia. The album’s first single, “You Put A Move On My Heart” was released in 1995 and the full album was released in 1998 and has sole over 400,000 copies worldwide.

Tamia went on to record many more albums and had countless hits including “Can’t Get Enough”, “Into You”, “Officially Missing You” and “Still”, each of which are still classics to date. Tamia married Detroit Pistons player, Grant Hill in 1999 and together they had two children, Aside from music, Tamia also had her hands in acting in 1997 as she made an appearance in “Speed 2: Cruise Control”.

Tamia recently released her last album, “Beautiful Surprise” in November 2012 with two hit singles, “Beautiful Surprise” and “Give Me You”. She went on tour with R. Kelly for “The Single Ladies Tour” in support of her latest album in 2012 and recently confirmed via her Twitter page that she is now working on her sixth album due out later this year (2014).
