Pharrell Williams was born on April 5, 1973 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was born eldest of three sons to Carolyn, a teacher, and Pharoah Williams, a handyman. Pharrell is best known for being a very successful recording artist, producer, musician and fashion designer. As a kid Williams played the keyboards and drums for his summer band camp. In 1990 he went on to team up with band member Chad Hugo forming a group named The Neptunes, which also included friends Shay Haley and Mike Etheridge. They entered their high school talent show and were discovered by Teddy Riley, who signed them after their high school graduation.
After several years of producing songs for well-known artist, it wasn’t until 1998 when they worked on Noreaga’s “Superthug” the Neptune’s career began to expand. Placing the song at number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Pharrell’s next major move was the decision to go solo, releasing In My Mind, a 15-track solo album released on July 25, 2006. Pharrell has earned seven Grammy Awards including two with the Neptunes. Pharrell also went on to branch into the fashion industry designing upscale sunglasses for Louis Vuitton, launching his own clothing line Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream shoe collection.
