Willie Mays has a swung another historic blow - this time without his cleats. The “Say Hey Kid” is getting not one, but two uptown streets named in his honor.
Mayor Bloomberg signed a bill Monday to co-name St. Nicholas Pl. from 153rd St. to 155th St. “Willie Mays Place,” and Harlem River Dr. from 155th St. to 163rd St. “Willie Mays Drive.”
The legislation does away with a debate over which location — a service road near the Giants’ old stadium, the Polo Grounds, or a road near the legend’s childhood home, would be co-named for the 82-year old Hall of Famer.
