This could be the end of the beer run.
Brooklyn imbibers will now be able to use their smartphones to order booze, which will arrive at their doors in less than an hour.
The new service, called Drizly, promises to hook up thirsty customers with local liquor retailers, who will fill the order and promptly schlep the hooch.
Users download the app to their iPhones or Androids and create accounts, verifying they’re legal drinking age. Drivers arrive in as little as 20 minutes, and use mobile scanners to check IDs before they hand over the beverages.
Drizly is merely the middleman.
“We never touch the alcohol,” said Kim Pegnato, a spokeswoman for the company.
The service follows in the footsteps of online takeout king Seamless and a host of others that offered to assist New Yorkers’ march toward a world in which they never have to leave their apartments.
