From the early 80's-00's, after the clock struck 1AM on WBLS, you know who you were listening to, the station's fist female caucasian radio host, the voice of late-night, Champaine. Today we recognize the legendary former WBLS radio personality, who helped shape the sound of our R&B airwaves as we know it today.

The Italian and German, Staten Island native, said she wanted to work for 107.5, since she was a young girl, in school. In 1983, the station manager, radio icon, Frankie Crocker, made Champaine Palumbo's dreams come true.

Champaine lived out her career goals for 25 years on the WBLS Airwaves, until 2008. Within that timeframe, she was not only an on-air host but also held the title of music director and assistant program director.
