While media mogul Oprah Winfrey continues to serve as the CEO and chairman of OWN, she just recently snagged a new deal.
She has inked a $1 billion multiyear content partnership with tech company, Apple. According to the site, Oprah and Apple “will create original content that will be released as part of the latter’s lineup of content. The deal includes books, applications, TV, film and more."

Because Oprah's platform already focuses on podcasts, the deal will not include it podcasts. HollyWood Reporter reports, “Sources note that Winfrey landed at Apple in a competitive situation with other tech giants, likely including Netflix and Amazon, all pursuing similar deals. Apple is said to have aggressively pursued Winfrey as part of a larger push to reach a broad audience.”
“Together, Winfrey and Apple will create original programs that embrace her incomparable ability to connect with audiences around the world,” Apple said in a statement. “Winfrey’s projects will be released as part of a lineup of original content from Apple.”
