Another day, another news headline documenting the sad and untimely death of Black men in America.
An Oklahoma family has been charged with murder after Moore, O.K. police found the bodies of two Black men cut into pieces and floating in a pond.
According to WJLA-TV, friends and family hung photos and missing persons posters around their community after they reported 21-year-old Ramon Smith and Jarron Moreland missing on April 14. Police searched for the two men for four days before discovering their dismembered bodies on April 18. That same day, it’s reported that police arrested three men and one woman — 22-year-old Kevin Garcia-Boettler, Kevin’s 16-year-old brother, their mother, 40-year-old Crystal Rachelle Boettler, and 43-year-old Johnny Shane Barker — for their deaths.
Reports indicate Garcia-Boettler “drove his brother to meet the two victims because he believed his brother was going to purchase a gun from Moreland. The sale was arranged through Craigslist and the two parties agreed to meet in a nearby grocery store parking lot.”
Moore Police Department Sgt. Jeremy Lewis says, “When [Moreland and Smith] entered the vehicle, the white men said they heard a gun being racked…so one of them fired four rounds.”
Rightfully so, the family, and community members are outraged.
2 black men were just lynched in 2018.
The anti-blackness in America is already becoming reminiscent of the 1950’s...
but now we’ve just retrogressed into the 1890’s brand of anti-blackness...
