Actor, Stephen Bishop is best known for his role as David Paulk on BET Network’s original hit series “Being Mary Jane,” starring opposite Gabrielle Union as her long time on and off again boyfriend. Last year Stephen starred in TV One’s “Media” to rave reviews turning the film into a series. Currently Stephen’s stars in the Bravo/NBC series Imposters alongside Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction), Inbar Lavi (Gang Related) and Parker Young (Suburgatory).
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Stephen Bishop moved to Northern California where he attended Campolindo High School. After receiving multiple accolades in both football and baseball, he received a baseball scholarship to the University of California Riverside. The all-star athlete led the Highlanders to a College World Series and earned the first Team All-Conference and All Region twice.
After graduating and earning his BA in Business, Bishop signed with The Atlanta Braves and played for them and the Baltimore Orioles for three years. Bishop then spent two years scouting for the Braves before deciding to move to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.
Since that time, Stephen has had roles in several notable films such as Grandma’s House, Miss Meadows and Battleship. His many guest appearances include USA Networks Royal Pains, ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, Brothers and Sisters, CBS’s The Mentalist, CW’s The Game, Hart of Dixie, some of the most popular shows on TV.
But the role that turned him into a household name was as baseball legend ‘David Justice’ in the six-time Academy Award Nominated film, Money ball, opposite Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Chris Pratt. Last year, Stephen starred in Lifetime’s original film With This Ring starring opposite Regina Hall (Think Like a Man Too). In addition to Lifetime’s film, Stephen Bishop starred in TV One’s Girlfriends Getaway 2 alongside Garcelle Beauvais.
In addition to his acting career, Stephen Bishop is heavily involved as a green building advocate, working toward helping the US Government green all of their building projects. He’s also a board member of the nonprofit organization, #RAKE (Random Acts of Kindness Everywhere), which grants and houses innovative charitable initiatives.
