As Hollywood continues to speak out against industry hot shot Harvey Weinstein in response to allegations of years of sexual assault and rape, actors, networks, and organizations including Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers), Disney, and the British Film Academy are separating themselves from the man responsible for many of Tinseltown’s biggest hits.

Actresses like Angelina Jolie, Gwenyth Paltrow, Ashley Judd, and Rose McGown have come forward about the sexual assault and harassment they endured from Weinstein. As a result, former president Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, have taken a special interest in the allegations because their oldest daughter, Malia, interned with the Weinstein Co. this year. And while Weinstein has been a big financial supporter of the Democratic Party for years, the Obamas want to make one thing clear: they are absolutely “disgusted” by the accusations.

Barack and Michelle released a statement yesterday reflecting their sentiment about the situation.

"Michelle and I have been disgusted by the recent reports about Harvey Weinstein," Obama said in a statement. "Any man who demeans and degrades women in such fashion needs to be condemned and held accountable, regardless of wealth or status.”

The statement continued by saying, “We should celebrate the courage of women who have come forward to tell these painful stories…And we all need to build a culture -- including by empowering our girls and teaching our boys decency and respect -- so we can make such behavior less prevalent in the future."

Hillary Clinton echoed the Obamas’ message by releasing a statement of her own, calling out Weinstein for his unacceptable “behavior.”

As Weinstein’s victims continue to come forward, Harvey’s wife, designer Georgina Chapman, exclusively told People she’s leaving her husband for his “unforgivable actions.”

“My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time.”
