Remember when Dave Chappelle came out of hiding last year and returned to late night television via a Saturday Night Live takeover? If so, then you should also remember his monologue urging SNL’s near three million viewers to give Trump a chance. But after a stand-up comedy show in New York Monday night, it sounds like Chappelle is having second thoughts about his request to give No. 45 a shot at leading the Free World.
“I was the first guy on TV to say ‘Give Trump a chance.’ I f---ed up. Sorry,” the comedian told a room full of people supporting a benefit for Robin Hood, a NYC community organization dedicated to “helping New Yorkers in need.”
Chappelle’s words were captured by NBC’s Sunday Today host, Willie Geist.
