Nets & Knicks Game Recaps

Overall, this weekend was a bad weekend for New York basketball teams as both the Brooklyn Nets (2-4) and the New York Knicks (2-4) continue to struggle.

On Friday night, the Nets fell to the Washington Wizards (2-3) in OT, 112-108.  Nets had an 11 point lead going into the final 4:30 of the 4th quarter and the Wizards, led by Nene Hilario’s 12 points in that timespan, tied the game at 99 to bring it into overtime.

Wizards took over in overtime and Trevor Ariza hit the go-ahead three to notch the win.  They were led by Bradley Beal’s 29 points which tied his career high.  Nene had 20 points and 8 rebounds and John Wall had a double-double with 17 points and 14 assists.

Nets were led by Brook Lopez’s 23 points and 5 rebounds.  Joe Johnson also contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds.  Paul Pierce was held scoreless in regulation and only finished the game with 4 points.  Kevin Garnett shot 2-11 from the field and also finished with 4 points.

On the next day, the Nets fell to the undefeated Indiana Pacers (7-0) 96-91.  The game was tight throughout and the Nets went into halftime with a 46-44 lead.

Pacers increased the lead to 10 midway through the 4th quarter and seemed to take control of the game.  Nets made a late run and cut the lead to 3, 94-91, off of a Pierce 3 pointer.  A few seconds later, Paul George committed a turnover which gave the Nets an opportunity to tie the game.  Joe Johnson attempted a 3 to tie the game with 11 seconds left on the clock and missed.  David West was able to grab the rebound for the Pacers and eventually hit two free throws after being fouled to get the win.

Paul George led the Pacers in scoring with 24 points and 6 rebounds.  David West also had 18 points and 8 rebounds.  Roy Hibbert finished with a double-double scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Nets had balanced scoring with four of their starters in double figures.  Joe Johnson finished with 17 points and Deron Williams had a double-double with 17 points and 10 assists.  Brook Lopez had 16 points and 7 rebounds.  Paul Pierce had a much better game than his previous one, finishing with 15 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.
