2013 Golden Globes

The 70th Annual Golden Globes awards aired this past Sunday night and brought out some of the biggest names in Hollywood such as Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayak, Kerry Washington, Chris Tucker, Denzel Washington - who was up for Best Actor for his role in the movie "Flight", but lost to Daniel Day Lewis in "Lincoln" - Nene Leakes and Olympic Gold medalist, Gabby Douglas. Some of the favorite looks of the night were Kerry Washington, Jennifer Lopez and Halle Berry.

Miss America Crowned From Brooklyn, NY

Mallory Hagan, a 23- year- old from Brooklyn, NY, was crowned the new Miss America after tap dancing to James Brown's "Get Up Off That Thang", dealing with questions about guns and talking about the issues of child sexual abuse. Hagan, originally from Alabama, won a $50,000 college scholarship and told press that she would promote the issue of child sexual abuse during her reign, an issue that has touched her family for many years. Congratulations to the new Miss America!


“Real Husbands of Hollywood” & “Second Generation Wayans” premiered on BET

Comedian and actor, Kevin Hart, debuted his new sitcom on BET entitled "Real Husbands of Hollywood". The show is the "realest fakest reality show" and stars Hart, Nick Cannon, Robin Thicke, J.B Smoove, Boris Kodjoe and rapper Nelly. The show is a spoof of some of the biggest "wives" reality shows such as "Basketball Wives" and "The Real Houswives" franchise.

"Real Husbands of Hollywood" airs on Tuesday nights at 10:00 p.m. on BET. Will you be watching?

That wasn't the only show to premiere on BET this week, "Second Generation Wayans" also debuted on BET which stars Damien Dante Wayans, Craig Wayans, Tatyana Ali and George O. Gore. The show follows the lives of the second generation of the famous Wayans family as they try and break away from the shadows of Shawn, Marlon, and Damon Wayans and establish a name for themseleves in Hollywood.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Celebrated Their Centennial & Alpha Kappa Alpha & Zeta Phi Beta Celebrated Their Founder's Day


The ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. celebrated their 100th founders day this week, making this their centennial celebration. Not only did the Delta's celebrate 100 years of service, the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. also celebrated their founders day. Congratulations ladies.

There were a ton of celebrity birthdays this week! WBLS wishes the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and Aaliyah, LL Cool J, Sade, Steve Harvey, Muhammad Ali and First Lady Michelle Obama a very happy birthday!


Rapper, Shawty Lo's "All My Babies Mamas" Reality Special Canceled

Oxygen canceled the new realty show,  “All My Babies’ Mamas,” which featured Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo. The rapper is the father to 11 children with ten different women. After news of this new reality show hit the media, a petition was created on Change.org to stop the production of the show before it even began. Protestors stated that the show was exploiting and stereotyping black women, children and their families. After the petition received 37,000 signatures to stop the special from premiering on the network, the Oxygen network released a statement saying, "As part of our development process, we have reviewed casting and decided not to move forward with the special. We will continue to develop compelling content that resonates with our young female viewers and drives the cultural conversation."


Lance Armstrong Admits To Using Performance Enhancing Drugs On OWN's "Oprah and Lance Armstrong: The Worldwide Exclusive"  

On Thursday night, cyclist, Lance Armstong, sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a highly anticipated interview. During their discussion, Armstrong admited to using performance-enhancing substances to help him win seven Tour de France titles throughout his career despite years of denial. Armstrong also admitted that he possibly used drugs mid-race, that he intentionally defamed those who spoke out about his drug use, and that he did not feel guilty and did not think of himself as a cheater.  He also admitted that he felt ashamed of his behavior in the past but was not afraid of getting caught. Now, Armstrong calls his career, "one big lie".



Tamar Braxton Debuts "Love & War" Music Video

She did that! The youngest Braxton sister, Tamar Braxton, debuted her music video for her first solo single, "Love & War". The visual features Tamar on the beach with her lover as they go through the phases of love and war in their sensual relationship. Check out the video below:



Conrad Bain Of "Diff'rent Strokes" Dies

Conrad Bain, an actor form the 1970s sitcom, "Diff'rent Strokes", passed away earlier this week. Bain was 89 years of age and was said to have died of natural causes. Bain is best known for his father figure role on the hit sitcom, but was said to have been an even more interesting, supporative, and loving father in real life. Co-star, Todd Bridges, spoke about the news stating, "I am deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Conrad as we were looking forward to celebrating his 90th birthday next month." Our condolences go out to the friends and family of Conrad Bain.
