Affordable Care Act
The Affordable Care Act or "Obamacare" as it's often called, went into effect on October 1, 2013. The Affordable Care Act is a set of health reforms passed by Congressed and signed by President Obama in March 2010. The law will touch on how hospitals are reimbursed for care and makes preventive care more affordable for many Americans. As the Washington Post reports, the ACA is "the provisions of the law that relate to the efforts to insure about 30 million Americans through subsidized private insurance or government-provided Medicaid."
