Affordable Care Act
The Affordable Care Act or "Obamacare" as it's often called, went into effect on October 1, 2013. The Affordable Care Act is a set of health reforms passed by Congressed and signed by President Obama in March 2010. The law will touch on how hospitals are reimbursed for care and makes preventive care more affordable for many Americans. As the Washington Post reports, the ACA is "the provisions of the law that relate to the efforts to insure about 30 million Americans through subsidized private insurance or government-provided Medicaid."

Government Shuts Down
After the passing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), the Republican party began eliminating funding for the rest of the U.S. Federal Governent The passing of the Affordable Care Act has been very controversial in America for many reasons and has divided the government. Since the Republican party failed to pass repeals from 2010-2013 and also lost the 2012 U.S. Presidential Election, the party began eliminating funding that's needed to help the government.
Forbes reports, "Since the U.S. Congress has not passed law to appropriate any funds past September 30, 2013, the Federal Government has “shut down.” I put “shut down” in quotes, since the U.S. Armed Forces are still getting paid and over a million non-Postal* employees are still being requested to work (with a risk of delayed pay if this impasse isn’t resolved quickly)."
Shooting in the Capitol
A young woman tried to run through a White House barricade and lead police on a wild chase toward the Nation's capitol early Thursday morning. The woman reportedly had a young child inside the car with her but was shot and killed by police before she caused major harm.
Police later reported that all of the shots fired were fired by law enforcment and that the incident was not an act of terrorism.
Kerry Washington Pregnant?
It look like Kerry Washington and her new husband, Exenwa Nnamdi Asomugha are expecting their first child! Kerry Washington has been on the scene a lot lately wearing fuller dresses and oversized bags which might be used as props to cover her growing baby bump! Although she hasn't confirmed or denied her pregnancy yet, we wouldn't be surprised it she was! If so, congrats!
