George Zimmerman Arrested, Again

George Zimmerman was arrested and charged with assault and battery for pointing a  shotgun at his pregnant girlfriend.

According to the NY Daily News, "The former neighborhood watchman, 30, pushed Samantha Scheibe, 27, from their Florida home at gunpoint and barricaded the door with furniture, according to the sheriff's office."

George Zimmerman gained notoriety in early 2012 after murdering unarmed teenager, Trayvon Martin, in Florida and being acquitted of all murder charges earlier this summer.

Since his acquittal, Zimmerman has had various run ins with the police including being pulled over for speeding and having tinted windows and a license plate cover on his vehicle.

"Selfie" Is Named 2013 Word of the Year

Oxford Dictionaries' word for the year for 2013 is "selfie." According to CNN, "the word "selfie" first popped up in an Australian chat room on September 13, 2002, to describe an undignified scene, the dictionaries'" and is now used to refer to a picture of a person taken by that same person and then shared onto a social networking site. The official definition is, "a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website."

The word "selfie" beat out "twerk" among others for the word of the year.

Chris Brown Sentenced To 3 Months in Rehab

R&B singer, Chris Brown, was sentenced to three months in rehab after being kicked out of his original rehabilitation program for allegedally throwing a rock through his mother's car window. The judge also ordered Chris Brown to receive three months of anger management treatment. While in rehab, Brown will be randomly tested for drugs and will also have to complete 24 hours of community service a week.

Outkast Reuniting In 2014 For Anniversary Tour

Revolt TV reports that the legendary hip hop duo, Outkast, could possibly be reuniting for an anniversary tour in 2014 to commemorate the groups 20th anniversary. Big Boy told The[YBF], "We've been kind of discussing some thing… once we map it out, we'll make an announcement." 

Dwayne Wade's Autobiography To Be Adapted To Television

NBA player, Dwayne Wade's autobiography, A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger Than Basketball, will be adapted for television. According to reports, FOX has decided to transform the book into a comedy special. The show entitled Three the Hard Way will follow the life of Daryl Wade and his friends. Wade will executive produce the new show. 

Oprah Winfrey Receives Presidential Medal of Freedom

Media mogul, Oprah Winfrey, was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama. This award is the nation's highest civilian honor. Oprah was among 15 others who were recognized by President Obama including late civil rights leader, Bayard Rustin, women’s rights activist Gloria Steinem, former president Bill Clinton, and astronaut Sally Ride, for their contributions to the world. 

Illinois Legalizes Same Sex Marriage


"This week, Illinois became the 16th state to legalize same sex marriage.


As a nation that prides itself in “Freedom and Justice for All,” making same sex marriage legal should become federal law.


Two common counterarguments to legalizing same sex marriage I most often hear include the fact that the bible denounces it and the notion that it will weaken the institution of marriage. (As if straight couples have been perfect at upholding the sanctity of marriage.) But supporters of same sex marriage defend gay couples right to marry with the only argument necessary—it’s a human right."

Beyonce's little sister Solange is stepping from underneath her big sister's shadow. The 27 year old singer was just named Art Director & Creative Consultant for PUMA. She took to her social media accounts to announce the news to her fans stating,

"After years of art directing my own projects and visuals, including music videos, photo shoots, album artwork and web content among many others, I am extremely excited to announce that I am now able to apply my passion for all things design into my new role as Art Director for the iconic PUMA!!!"

Traci Braxton Disappointed In Sisters

Traci Braxton is disappointed in her sisters for discussing her marital problems on the family's reality show without her concent.
