 Summer Intern Of Bank of American Dies After Pulling Three Consecutive 'All-Nighters'


Mortiz Erhardt, 21, was a busniess student and one week away from finishing his seven week internship at the Bank of America. Pastor Tries To Ban Congregation From Wearing Weaves in Church

 

Pastor A.J. Aamir of Resurrecting Faith in Waco, Texas is attempting to ban members of his congregation from wearing weaves in church. He believes that weaves present a false image and are associated with women who have low self-esteem. He went on to say, Our black women are getting weaves trying to be something and someone they are not. Be real with yourself is all I’m saying."

Jennifer Hudson Poses As Disney Princess

 

Singer, Jennifer Hudson, poses as Princes Tiana (from the Disney movie, "The Princess and the Frog") in the Disney Parks' Disney Dream Portrait Series. Hudson joins a list  of entertainers who have also poses as Disney Characters for the series. 

The picture will be seen in upcoming issues of Vanity Fair, People Magazine and O Magazine

Russell Simmons To Produce Harriet Tubman Biopic

 

After posting the "Harriet Tubman Sex Tape" video on his All Def Digital YouTube channel and apologizing for the incident, Russell Simmons has just announced that he is developing a movie on Harriet Tubman. According to Essence.com, the family of Harriet Tubman reached out to him asking him to produce the flim. Simmons tweeted, "The last few days I have been speaking to some of the direct descendants of Harriet Tubman. They have not only accepted my apology but we agree that we should begin immediately to develop the story of Harriet Tubman."

Trayvon Martin Reenactment Video Goes Viral


This week, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence released a video reenacting the night Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman. The video uses real 911 recordings from the night of the shooting. At the end of the video, the camera shows dozens of bodies wearing hoodies with state names next to them representing the 26 states with similar Stand Your Ground laws. The family of Trayvon Martin wants lawmakers to revisit the laws that are designed to "protect the aggressors of situations that result in death." Read more here.

The Obamas Welcome A New Puppy

This week, the Obama family welcomed a new family member! On Michele Obama's Instagram page, she introduced the world to the family's second Portuguese Water Dog, Sunny! The female dog is only a year old. A short description of the dog read, "Sunny is the perfect little sister for Bo—full of energy and very affectionate—and the First Family picked her name because it fit her cheerful personalit". Former Child Actor, Lee Thompson Young, Dies

 
Former child star, Lee Thompson Young, best known for his roll in the Disney Channel's late 90s show, "The Famous Jett Jackson" was found dead in his Los Angeles home earlier this week. According to reports, Young died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The actor was 29 years old. 
 
Young began acting in 1998 and appeared in over a dozen television shows and films. His biggest performances were in Flash Forward, Friday Night Lights, Akeelah and the Bee, and Scrubs.
Toni Braxton & Babyface Collaborate For A New Song
 
 
Toni Braxton and Babyface have teamed up for a new single, "Hurt You". The single is the first off of their upcoming album, "Love, Marriage & Divorce" in which the two artists are working together. When asked about the new project, Toni Braxton stated: "I think because Babyface and I have both gone through divorces, we can relate and we can collaborate together on this topic and make it so others who have gone through this situation can relate".
