It wasn’t long ago when we all asked the question “Is America Ready for a Black President?”
And as time is running out on President Obama’s second term, many are speculating if former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will run for president in 2016—which, if she won, would be yet another monumental moment in U.S Presidential History.
When asked about the 2016 race earlier this month, Clinton said she is “thinking about it.”
The interesting thing that keeps coming up in discussions and articles alike is the notion that Clinton is experiencing an immense amount of ageism and sexism, with headlines akin to “Is Hillary Clinton Too Old to be President?”
At 65 and an accomplished “Wife, mom, lawyer, women & kids advocate, FLOAR, FLOTUS, US Senator, SecState, author, dog owner, hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, glass ceiling cracker,” according to her very own Twitter bio, many would disagree.
But as Salon’s Joan Walsh points out, the average person elected president is age 55.
As far as some hot-button issues are concerned, Clinton is pro-choice, pro marriage equality, for immigration reform, pro gun control, and has clear goals for education reform. Need more info? Check out The Political Guide.
What do you think? Would Hillary Clinton get your vote in 2016? And for old times sake, is America ready for a woman president? I vote yes!
