Congratulations to Gladys Knight!

On Sunday, Dec. 4th, she was among a list of recipients during the 45th annual Kennedy Center Honors to receive this award for her contributions to the arts. George Clooney, who was also a recipient for the night, spoke about being a big fan of Gladys Knight and receiving their medallions.

“Gladys got up and sang and, you know, just a cappella started to sing… The only thing that was terrible was that I had to follow. So there’s 300 people in the room going, this is transcendent – and I’m like ‘God, this is horrible! I have to follow Gladys Knight!’”

Other honorees included Amy Grant, Taina León, and U2. The Kennedy Center took to Twitter to congratulate the honorees.

“Please join us in congratulation your 45th class of Kennedy Center Honorees. Tune in on Dec. 28 at 8 pm EST as a star-studded #KCHonors lineup pays tribute to @U2, @AmyGrant, @MsGladysKnight, #GeorgeClooney, and #TainaLeón on @CBS and @ParamountPlus.”

We recently reported that Gladys Knight will produce a scripted mini-series about her life.
