Just days after Wheel of Fortune’s Pat Sajak announced that he will be retiring from his 41-season run as host of the show, Whoopi Goldberg has stepped in to request the title.
Names like Ryan Seacrest and Sajak’s daughter, Maggie have been thrown around as his replacement. On Tuesday, Goldberg shared on an episode of The View that she would like to be considered when Jeopardy host, Ken Jennings, joined the show.
The View cast member Alyssa Farah Griffin brought up the topic. “Another legendary game show host, Pat Sajak, just announced that he’s going to be retiring from Wheel of Fortune at the end of next season.” She then asked Jennings, “What’s your reaction to the news? And any ideas on who should replace him?”
Before Jennings answered, Goldberg stated her claim. “I want that job! I think it’d be lots of fun,” she said.
Jennings responded, “Well, there you go, we figured it out.”
Goldberg wouldn’t be a terrible choice as she has prior game show hosting experience. From 1998 to 2004, she appeared as the center square on Hollywood Squares.
