Comedian and radio host, Corey Holcomb’s latest statements have him on the receiving end of backlash.

The 56-year-old trended this week on X after explaining that he likes women in poverty because he can control them better and they won’t leave.

During a sit down with Cam Newton, the former football player asked Holcomb to elaborate on his ideology of dating “women in poverty.” Holcomb quickly responded, “Well I’m older now so women in poverty, I can control them better. A girl who can’t afford to say ‘F—k you Corey, I’m gone.’ She just can’t afford to do it. So I take advantage of that. Now, that might be wrong but her poverty and my needs most of the time, it even out. I don’t really need a lot of their time. And they don’t tell me to f—k off because they know when I come over their children can get some outlet Jordans.”

His statement has led to people advising women to ensure they are financially independent so they don’t have to remain in unfavorable situations.

One X user wrote, “Women who are young and old and everyone in between, please strive for financial independence so you don’t have to be abused.

Another X user wrote that we have to protect young women from guys like Holcomb. “Help the next woman or girl. We have got to protect our daughters, little cousins, and girls up the street from guys like this.”

A TikTok comment, with 17k likes wrote, “This is why our mothers and grandmothers told us to have an emergency account.”

In the ShadeRoom’s comments, an instagram suggested that the comedian is preying on women by using his money. “So he’s preying on women who have low self-esteem and/or struggling to make ends meet. Basically kicking a woman while she is down to stroke his ego. That’s a mess.”

Later in the interview, Holcomb told Netwon that he didn’t believe “monogamy exists.”

“I think every once in a while you meet a dude and he only with his girl. It’s very rare,” he said. “We are men – especially men who have means. If you a man who has means you have women. And if you say it ain’t true you not being genuine.”
