Author and actress Tabitha Brown has released a new video addressing backlash regarding her comments about the Target boycott negatively impacts Black authors. The boycott arrives after the brand rolled back their DEI initiatives in January.

The 46-year-old posted another video regarding the critics on Instagram on Tuesday (May 20). “To all the people in the comments and my dms with your uneducated hate messages. Baby I pray love finds you and holds you tight! I pray listening, reading and comprehension holds you even tighter!!”

“There is no amount of hate and ignorance that is going to stop me from using my platform and my voice to support and uplift small businesses, black owned businesses, black content creators, black authors etc.,” Brown continued.

Celebrities and fans flocked to the comment section to support the business woman. Tina Knowles wrote, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” Sherri Shepherd added, “Take it up with God because he gave me thi voice and this platform to speak for those who cannot!”

Brown has been in a partnership with Target since 2022. Her line consists of haircare, clothing, home goods and more. The social media sensation has a children’s book “Hello There, Sunshine,” inspired by her own childhood.

After the company scaled back their DEI programs earlier this year, sparking consumers to boycott the brand, Brown initially expressed concern in a lengthy video that Black-owned businesses would be negatively impacted, but also said she understood where people were coming from.
