Rymir Satterthwaite, the New Jersey man who claims Jay-Z is his biological father, has voluntarily dismissed his paternity lawsuit, filed in Pennsylvania on July 24. Despite the withdrawal, Satterthwaite maintains the legal battle is far from finished.

The 30-year-old has accused the billionaire rapper—born Shawn Carter—of avoiding a DNA test for more than a decade. He first brought the case to public attention at age 17, alleging Jay-Z used his influence to block paternity proceedings and evade accountability. The case has been repeatedly stalled across multiple court systems since 2010.

Following the withdrawal, Satterthwaite addressed his supporters on Instagram. In a video statement, he said the decision was part of a longer-term strategy, not a concession. “I did withdraw my case—it’s for a reason,” he said. “They try to use bully tactics to slow things down. You have to play chess, not checkers.”

Rymir Satterthwaite also suggested new developments remain behind the scenes, insisting he has not ended his pursuit of recognition or justice. Meanwhile, Jay-Z has made no public comment. However, his attorneys responded to the case before its dismissal, labeling it a “decades-long harassment campaign” and accusing Satterthwaite of recycling claims that were already “addressed and rejected.”

Court filings also noted a contempt order issued after Satterthwaite allegedly ignored previous rulings.

The paternity saga reentered the spotlight after Nicki Minaj referenced it in a recent livestream. She accused Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s entertainment company, of undermining her career and cited the case as an example of alleged abuse of power.

While the lawsuit is no longer active, Rymir Satterthwaite shows no sign of stepping away from the issue. His accusations continue to gain attention online, fueled by celebrity conflict, social media, and unresolved legal questions.
