Brittish Williams is a free woman after she was released from federal custody.
The former “Basketball Wives” star was released on Wednesday, August 13, and was seen reuniting with her former fiancé, Lorenzo Gordon, and their young daughter. In May 2023, Williams pled guilty to 15 felonies, including five counts of misuse of a Social Security number, three counts of making false statements to the IRS, three counts of wire fraud, and four counts of bank fraud.
She would be sentenced to serve her time in October 2023 by U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autery, who told her, “You knew what you were doing. You knew it was wrong and you did it anyway.” She was sentenced to four years in prison, five years of supervised release, and ordered to pay over $500,000 in restitution.
Court documents revealed that Williams underreported income on her 2017-2019 income tax returns and falsely claimed her niece and nephew as dependents, which allowed her to avoid over $29,000 in taxes.
Prosecutors argued that the social security numbers that were used were not assigned to her to open different bank and credit accounts. The accounts were worth $28,537 in losses, and the additional bank fraud cost $23,850 in losses. Williams also submitted multiple Economic Injury Disaster Loan applications with false claims about payroll, income, and criminal history, for which she received $144,400, as well as $52,647 through Paycheck Protection Program loans.
Prosecutors added that Brittish Williams submitted false medical bills to an insurer that paid her $139,479.92 to her and/or co-conspirators. After she was indicted, Williams did not file her annual tax returns and claimed to be exempt from a radio job that paid $90,000.
