Kandi Burruss is heading back to the Broadway stage.

The Grammy Award winner singer and Tony Award and Emmy nominee will join the cast of the hit musical & Julie.

According to PEOPLE, Burruss wil play Angélique, Juliet’s nurse, for a limited run at New York City’s Stephen Sondheim Theatre from Dec. 11 through March 8, 2026.

In a statement, Burruss shared excitement about her new role.

“I could not be more thrilled to return to the Broadway stage in this incredible musical,” Burruss, 49, said. “As a songwriter myself, I am such a fan of Max Martin’s genius mind, and to get to come back to Broadway in this joyful musical that celebrates his catalog is a dream come true.”

In 2018, Burruss debuted on Broadway in Chicago. Since then, she has earned a Tony Award nomination for The Piano Lesson and produced revivals of The Wiz, The Piano Lesson, Thoughts of a Colored Man, and Othello (led by Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal).

Burris also announced she’ll be producing her fifth Broadway show, the upcoming revival of August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone. Directed by Debbie Allen, the production will star Taraji P. Henson and Cedric “The Entertainer.” It’s set to open this spring.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the producing team of Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, which will mark my fifth Broadway show,” Burruss said in a statement this week.“Eternal gratitude to the team as I look forward to being a part of this journey and can’t wait for people to witness the greatness that is Taraji P. Henson and Cedric ‘The Entertainer’ on the Broadway stage.”

The play will be Henson’s Broadway debut. Previsouly, Cedric “The Entertainer,” starred in American Buffalo in 2008. The two acclaimed actors will play married couple Bertha and Seth Holly.
