Lori Harvey says her mother was stunned when she told her she posed for Playboy.

Harvey posed for the February issue, marking the magazine’s return to print. She spoke about the photoshoot on The Jennifer Hudson Show. Harvey explained how she broke the news to her mother, Marjorie Harvey, and stepfather, Steve Harvey.

“I didn’t tell them until I did it already,” Harvey said. “Because I also understand the stigma that can come with it and I was like, ‘No, guys, I did it tasteful. Don’t worry.’”

“I called my mom and I told her, and she thought I was joking,” Harvey continued. “So, she called everybody around me. She called my manager, called my best friend ’cause my best friend did my makeup for the shoot, and was like, ‘Did Lori really do Playboy?’ And they were like, ‘Well, what did she tell you?’”

Harvey’s friends confirmed to Marjorie that the shoot was real. At first, she expressed her disappointment in her daughter, but then she saw the photos.

“So I sent her the BTS and she was like, ‘Oh, this is really cute,’” Harvey said.

She went on to say that she asked her mother not to tell Steve until the magazine came out. But Marjorie told him immediately.

“He’s like, ‘Is she naked?’ And my mom was like, ‘No.’ And so then he sees and he’s like, ‘Oh, this is nice.’ I’m like, “Thank you guys. Thank you.’ So they were happy with it.”

Along with her Playboy cover, Harvey has a guest role in the current season of Reasonable Doubt on Hulu. Harvey plays Chelsea, an “unpredictable force with a troubled past, who will challenge the lead character, Jax.”

She joined series regulars Emayatzy Corinealdi, McKinley Freeman, Tim Jo, Angela Grovey, and Joseph Sikora. Also, recurring guest stars Morris Chestnut, Kyle Bary, Rumer Willis, Brandee Evans, Richard Brooks, April Parker Jones, Keith Arthur Bolden, and Kash Doll.
