Actor and comedian Andy Dick suffered an apparent overdose after he was found unresponsive on a street in Los Angeles.
The 59-year-old comedian was seen slumped over a set of stairs outside a building in Hollywood as friends attempted to help him, according to photos obtained by TMZ on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Dick, who was dressed in a tan jacket, black tee, plaid pajama pants and black Crocs, was bent over as his glasses lay on the ground in front of him.
As he laid on the concrete, several friends stood over him to revive him. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reportedly responded to the scene but did not transport him to the hospital.
Dick later spoke to TMZ by phone Tuesday night, telling the outlet that he was alive and OK. He would not disclose exactly what happened.
As Page Six reports, Dick has a long history of drug and alcohol abuse. He launched his own podcast about his addiction history, “ADickted,” as a resource for himself and others.
On the podcast Dick spoke with doctors, therapists, spiritual leaders, and recovery specialists to try and get him on the right path.
In addition to drug and alcohol abuse, Dick has face sexual misconduct allegations. Dick, who has three adult children, sons Jacob and Lucas and daughter Meg, faced sexual harassment claims in 2017.
At the time, he addressed the claims to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “I didn’t grope anybody. I might have kissed somebody on the cheek to say goodbye and then licked them. That’s my thing.”
In 2022, Dick was ordered to register as a sex offender after being convicted of sexual battery in 2018.
