Cynthia Erivo is serious about protecting her voice.
The singer/actress makes it point to do everything possible to protect her instrument.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Erivo shared her strict regimen.
“I’m always taking care of it,” Erivo said in her voice. “I don’t drink, and I don’t smoke. I’m a crazy person. I don’t eat anything on planes, and I bring everything with me. My tea, my water.
“ Someone made a meme of the mug that I carry around because I have it with me everywhere,” she continued. I have it in several different colors. And I will not be without it. Because I want my tea to always be warm enough to hydrate me.”
Erivo said that she pulls out all the stops to make sure that her voice is protected.
“That’s just how I exist. I will do whatever I need to make sure she’s okay — except apparently take a break,” the actress and singer said.
Erivo also spoke about her hectic schedule and her upcoming one-woman show of Dracula.
“If it feels like [an opportunity] might be something that I’m going to have to learn from. This is really scary, this is going to force me to find something else in my character, something else in who I am — then I say yes,” she said. “The problem is a lot of those things are showing up right now, so I’m not saying no very often, but I do say no.”
Along with Dracula, Erivo’s is set to Suzie Miller’s Prima Facie and Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone in theaters Jan. 15, 2027.
Dracula runs in London between Feb. 4 and May 31.
Ervio stayed busy throughout 2024 and 2025. She was promoting the two-part Wicked adaptation, appearing in the show Poker Face, released her album in June, and performed at Coachella.
