Fetty Wap Released From Prison After Serving A Three-Year Sentence

Fetty Wap has been granted an early release from prison.

​According to HOT97, he was released from prison on Thursday, Jan. 8. He served over three years of his prison sentence at FCI in  Sandstone, Minn.

​In 2022, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances charges. He was sentenced to six years in prison in May 2023.

Upon his release, Fetty released a statement to Billboard.

“I want to thank my family, friends, and fans for the love, prayers, and continued support. It truly means everything to me,” he said. “Right now, my focus is on giving back through my community initiatives and foundation, supporting at-risk young children by expanding access to education, early tech skills, and vision care for young kids and students so they can show up as their best selves. I’m committed to moving forward with purpose and making a meaningful impact where it matters most.”

TMZ reported that Fetty was transferred to home confinement in Philadelphia by the Bureau of Prisons. His official release date from oversight custody is scheduled for Nov. 8.

For the next 5 years, Fetty will undergo strict and supervised guidelines. He will be subject to drug testing, “in addition to being prohibited from opening any new bank accounts without approval from federal agents.” He also has to report to the U.S. Probation Department all his earnings and tax records.

Lastly, he’s forbidden from consuming any alcohol or other intoxicants “unless granted a prescription by a licensed physician.”

Fetty Wap came to prominence with his breakout single, “Trap Queen,” peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. His other massive hits, such as “679” (featuring Monty and the Remy Boyz), reached No. 4, and “My Way”, which climbed to No. 7.
