Teyana Taylor is still celebrating her Golden Globe victory.
On Sunday (Jan 11), Taylor won Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for playing Perfidia Beverly Hills in One Battle After Another.
Taylor took to Instagram to share her gratitude.
“Thank you @goldenglobes for seeing me 🥹 not just in this performance, but in the journey. I’ve been at this for 20 years, so this award doesn’t only represent this role,” she wrote/ “it represents every season. Every sacrifice, every yes, every no, and all the love and life I’ve poured into my work. And into others along the way.”
“I’ll say it again.. Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. And our light does not need permission to shine,” she continued. “We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter. Our dreams deserve space. 🥹✨
“If this moment represents anything, I hope it reminds us that the wait is not punishment. It is preparation for what’s already written. 🙌🏾 What we endure does not diminish us… it refines us,” Taylor added. ✨🏆🌹
Stunned to hear her name called as the winner, Taylor was overcome with emotion during her acceptance speech.
“To my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a liability,” Taylor said during her acceptance speech. “Our depth is not too much. And our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space.”
Taylor also paid tribute to her children, who were watching at home.
“My babies — they’re upstairs watching. Y’all better be off them damn phones and watching me right now!”
Taylor also thanked director Thomas Anderson, who cast her in the role.
“Thank you for your vision, your trust, and your brilliance. My gratitude is endless. I love you, we love you, and thank you so much for holding space for me and our entire cast.”
