Method Man And Angelina Jolie Star In New Thriller, ‘Sunny’

Cliff “Method Man” Smith is officially stepping into the shadows.

The Grammy-winning artist will star opposite Angelina Jolie and Charlie Plummer in the dark comedy thriller Sunny, per Deadline. The film is directed by Eva Sørhaug, marking her first English-language feature directorial debut.

While character details are still undisclosed, the official film description is below:

“Wealthy and glamorous Sunny radiates polished perfection, but beneath her sparkling society smile, Sunny is a drug kingpin, mob mistress and devoted single mother, who has an adrenaline-fueled 24 hours to clean up and get out of town before the local mob boss discovers her dysfunctional family’s devastating secret.”

Sunny arrives after Smith’s most recent Amazon Studios gig, Relationship Goals, opposite Kelly Rowland. He previously starred as ‘Attorney Davis MacLean’ in the worldwide hit STARZ series Power Book II: Ghost. The show, which completed production on its fourth season, follows the on-going journey of some of “Power’s” most controversial characters, in addition to introducing new fan favorites.

Smith’s also starred in the thriller, Shadow Force, alongside Kerry Washington and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. Smith made his film debut in One Eight Seven and Belly, and his additional film credits include Concrete Cowboy, Peppermint, Last Looks, Keanu, Trainwreck, Red Tails, The Wackness, The Sitter, The Cobbler, the award-winning drama Garden State amongst many others.

Smith received a 2023 NAACP Image Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in On the Come Up.
