Devon Franklin revealed that he used dating apps after his divorce from Meagan Good.
Taking to his TikTok stories, Franklin recalled the “dilemma” of ending his marriage with Good. He said that he struggled to come to terms with the decision.
“Even thinking of the question was terrifying,” Franklin said in the clip. “Having the thought put me in a state of disbelief and absolute fear. I never thought that I would contemplate it. Better yet, I never thought that I would even do it. But now I’m at the edge of considering it.”
Franklin then shared how he spent time on dating apps when his divorce was finalized. He joked that “he needed his swipe to be blessed.”
“I wasn’t looking for marriage. But I was just looking to explore and have a good time and enjoy myself,” Franklin said.
“I got Jesus, a therapist, and unlimited data,” he joked with the audience. “So we’re gonna figure it out.”
The Challenges Of Dating Apps
Franklin also said that he was “ghostfished” after talking to a woman on Snapchat for nearly five months but never met her in person.
He admitted that he fell for a woman’s thirst trap photo, but then questioned her for leaving the photo up after they began a relationship. Franklin said it should have been a “red flag” when the woman continued to post similar photos.
“I just found it very interesting that I’m out here decluttering my DMs like a good boy, per her request. And meanwhile, she’s got the storefront looking like buy-one, slide in free,” he said.
Franklin Had To Find Himself
Appearing on Cam Newton’s “Funky Friday” podcast, Franklin said he had to rediscover himself after the divorce. He said he rented a hotel room in Los Angeles for a year to figure things out for himself.
“I had to retrace my steps. It’s very easy when you go through something to point to the other person and say, ‘Well, what they didn’t do.’ But that really doesn’t do anybody any good,” he told Newton. And I realized that’s not going to help me. I got to look at, ‘Well, what did I do? What was my role here? What are the things that are opportunities for growth? But part of it was just sitting in it and feeling it and not being afraid to see.”
Last August, Franklin married fitness coach Maria Castillo. Good married actor Jonathan Majors earlier that year.
