Steph and Ayesha Curry are sharing the secrets behind their successful marriage.
Speaking with PEOPLE, the Currys revealed that “honest communication” with each other is the key to their healthy marriage.
“It sounds kind of cheesy, but it’s really a foundation,” Curry explained. “We built that over time, where you can say whatever is on your mind and it doesn’t come off as a personal attack or anything.”
“Life is hard, and you’re trying to handle all the stress. Especially as parents, too. But if you can prioritize that, then prioritize each other as much as possible; that’s the foundation,” Steph continued.
DATE NIGHTS ARE IMPORTANT
Ayesha added that they prioritize date nights to keep the romance in their marriage.
“Even if it’s a night like this, like, that’s a date night for us, Ayesha shared. “So we just make sure that that togetherness and that foundation of why we started this life together in the first place is always at the core of it.”
In July 2025, Steph and Ayesha celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary and renewed their vows in 2021.
THE CURRYS APPEAR IN THE ANIMATED FILM ‘GOAT’
Steph and Ayesha are also working together in the upcoming film GOAT. The animated film follows a goat named Will, who’s voiced by Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin. He “dreams of becoming a pro at ‘roarball,’ along with the fastest and fiercest animals in the world.”
Steph, who plays giraffe Lenny Williamson in the movie, said Ayesha helped him with his acting skills.
”She’s been doing it her whole life. And for the first session we had, she went first, and I got to sit in and watch her work. It kind of broke the ice a little bit,” Steph said. “But once you’re in there … I didn’t realize how physical it was. It’s not like you’re just talking, but you gotta really be in that moment [which was] fun.”
Steph is even open to playing in an action movie in the future.
“Possibly. I do, but I want to make sure [it’s] the right parts,” says Steph. “Like, I don’t want to force it. That’s how all this stuff was happening. Just natural, as I got an opportunity and am being around a lot of people. So Ayesha will see…”
GOAT hits theaters on Feb. 13.
