Snoop Dogg’s daughter Cori Broadus and her fiancé Wayne ‘Deuce’ Polk are honoring the life of their baby girl.
On February 7, the couple laid their daughter, Codi Dreaux, to rest joined by family and friends. Broadus shared scenes from the intimate memorial on social media the following day.
In an Instagram post, she included moments from the church reception, loved ones rocking pink and a tan outfits and a custom illustrated keepsake book titled Codi Dreaux Takes a Trip to Heaven.
“Part of me went with you,” Broadus wrote alongside the snapshots. “My girl for life.”
“I wanted to show you how to be kind in a hard world”
During the service, Broadus and Duece shared a moving eulogy. Broadus mourned the life she imagined as Codi’s mother including watching her take her first steps and protecting her from life’s hardships.
“I am devastated knowing I didn’t get enough time to teach you all of the things I wanted to teach you. I wanted to show you how to be kind in a hard world, how to be brave when life feels unfair, how to love yourself fiercely. I wanted you. I wanted to watch you take your first steps, celebrate your first birthday, walk you to your first day of school,” she said before becoming emotional.
“I wanted to be there for your wins, your heartbreaks, your questions, and every moment in between. I don’t understand why this happened. I’m trusting God, but that doesn’t mean it makes sense to me,” she continued. “Some days, I wonder if this world was just too cruel for someone as pure as you. Other days, I wonder how I’m supposed to live in a world without you in my arms. Codi, I find comfort knowing you have your angel wings now, knowing you are home, safe, confident, and unforgettable.”
In the comments, fans and friends poured in heartfelt messages. “May GOD continue to wrap his arms around you and your family. We are so sorry for your loss. I know u have all of your loved ones surrounding you but Aintee Brat is just a call or text away,” Da Brat wrote.
Monica added, “We Love You and we’re all here for you …. You and Wayne are loved and supported”
Duece also shared photos from the service, writing, “Forever daddy’s pretty girl I love you so much Codi Dreaux & I will never forget about you girl,” followed by the hashtag #LongLiveCodiDreaux.
Broadus, 26, and Duece became parents to baby Codi last February. The baby girl arrived prematurely, after Broadus’ 25-week pregnancy.
Codi died on Jan. 26 after spending 10 months in the NICU. Broadus, who frequently shares updates about her life and health journey with lupus, had documented much of her daughter’s NICU experience and had brought her home from the hospital just weeks before.
