Andy Cohen offers his condolences to Mary Cosby, star of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, following the loss of her son, Robert Cosby Jr.
During Thursday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, he shared an emotional message with the audience.
“Before we go, I want to send all my love and heartfelt condolences to Mary Cosby and her family after news broke yesterday about the tragic passing of Mary’s son Robert Jr.,” Cohen said.
“This devastatingly sad news is every parent’s worst nightmare. My heart breaks for Mary. I will always appreciate getting a small window into the unconditional love between Mary and Robert Jr.,” Cohen added.
He then praised Mary for being a great mother while facing difficult challenges.
“Mary, you did such a good job,” Cohen continued, citing Robert Jr.’s mental health and drug addiction.
“I know their bravery and their vulnerability in sharing their story has helped. And will continue to help countless people who are struggling,” Cohen said. “Rest in peace, Robert Jr., and thanks.”
On Monday, Robert Cosby Jr. passed away, the authorities and the Cosby family confirmed. The Salt Lake City Police Department said officers responded to a reported overdose.
The Cosby family confirmed Robert’s passing in a statement on Friday.
“Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace,” they shared. “We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”
Bravo also shared a statement with PEOPLE to offer its condolences.
“We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Mary’s beloved son, Robert Jr,” the statement read. “Mary is a cherished member of our family, and our thoughts, love, and deepest condolences are with her and her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
