Tyrese and Tank are facing off in the latest installment of the iconic Verzuz series for a R&B face-off.
Set to air Thursday (Mar 26), the former TGT members will revive the playful music competition first started by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz in 2020. Verzuz came about during the COVID-19 pandemic when the world was on lockdown. The two producers, who once had a years-long rivalry, turned competition into collaboration, laying the groundwork for the Verzuz ethos.
Apple Music has already released a cheat sheet of what fans can expect to hear from the duo. From Tyrese’s catalog, the singer will play classics including “Lately,” “Pullin Me Back,” and “What Am I Gonna Do.” Tank will have fans singing along to “Please Don’t Go,” “Maybe I Deserve,” and “When We.”
The contenders are also slated to play records they’ve made together as members of TGT, alongside Ginuwine. The supergroup was birthed in 2007 from a their real-life friendship. Tyrese, who was the best man at Ginuwine’s wedding, hinted that the group may be heading back on tour saying to Revolt, “We gon’ be sold out.”
This is the second Verzuz of the year, with Hit-Boy and Mike WiLL Made-It taking over the stage earlier this year.
