Cardi B aims to shake up the world of beauty.
On April 15, the Grammy-winning rapper will launch April 15 six products from her new brand: Grow-Good Beauty.
Speaking with PEOPLE, Cardi shares her vision behind her new endeavor.
“The aha moment when I felt like I needed my own brand [was] when I kept seeing people try … the mask that I keep doing to grow my hair,” Cardi explained
“Everybody [was talking] about [it] working on all of them. I’m like, ‘I need to do it, everybody’s asking me for it, I might as well just go for it.’ It’s like, you know what? “ she continued. “Let’s go on this hair journey with each other.”
Cardi also spoke about how she’s not a gatekeeper of beauty secrets.
“That’s why I experimented — so you won’t have to,” Cardi explained.
For one of the products, she combined” her Dominican family’s at-home rituals with the latest innovations in scalp and hair technology for Grow-Good.”
According to the press release, the Repair System is powered by Fiberlace, which is described as “a proprietary, plant-derived hair restoration complex developed to reinforce the hair fibers.”
Created with bond-supporting technology, “it helps to fortify the hair’s structure and seal the cuticle to boost shine.”
The system includes two versions of the Wash Cycle and Wash Cycle+ shampoos ($14.99). Also, two versions of the Soft Serve and Soft Serve+ conditioners ($14.99), with “the latter of each being loaded with more fortifying ingredients to aid in repair.”
Get Rich ($19.99), her hero mask, blends “avocado and coconut oils with aloe vera.” It also contains “banana extract to mend hair in need of TLC.” “The Everything Serum ($17.99) “serves as a multitasker that protects hair from heat and humidity, helps seal ends, and adds shine.
Cardi shared how the brand is representative of who she is.
“I wanted something very colorful, very vibrant,” she says. “Green is powerful. Green represents a lot of products that we put on our hair. And I feel like hair is like a plant. It’s like you got to nourish it, feed it … to grow.”
