Kel Mitchell tried to keep his identity as a TV star a secret until his teacher blew his cover.

Appearing on Big Bro with Kid Cudi, a Wave Original, Mitchell spoke about Nickelodeon’s All That as a student.

“When we were shooting these shows, we would leave high school, go do it, and then still come back. Me and Kenan still wanted to be enrolled in our school,” he explained.

Mitchell went on to say that for the first two seasons, we were able to do it. Because Nickelodeon, at first, was geared towards a younger type of audience, and we were in high school.”

As the show took off, it became harder for them to conceal his new star identity.

“When we started to blow up, then it got crazy because obviously the freshmen knew,” Mitchell said. “And because I wasn’t trying to be on the radar. I ain’t want nobody to know at my school that I was on this show.”

“I really didn’t want them to know. And then the first episode came out, the pilot, and remember, I’m an artist as well,” he continued. “So I was in my class, and I just heard my voice, and I’m like, ‘Yo, what is going on?’ “

Eventually, Mitchell’s teacher saw him on TV and shared his show with his entire class.

“My teacher’s playing like the show for everybody because he happened to see it,” Mitchell recalled. “And so then now the whole school knows what’s cracking. And I was just like, ‘Oh…’

After his secret was discovered, Mitchell did his best to  “be under the radar.”

“I had teachers that were like, ‘Hey I saw that Boyz II Men was on your show,’ ” Mitchell laughed.

Mitchell said he “strived to be part of the crowd” for the rest of the year.

“We would do like five months to shoot and then, we had the hiatus. And then they had to edit it and all these different things. So at that time, I’m finishing school already,” he recalled. “Nobody even knew what was going on until it premiered.”
