Tina Knowles adored her granddaughter, Blue Ivey Carter’s ensemble at the Met Gala. Appearing with her parents, Beyoncé and JAY-Z, Blue made her debut at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
During an appearance on the 3rd Hour of Today, Knowles said she was overcome with emotion.
“I got really emotional, shed a few tears,” Knowles shared.
“It was kind of reminiscent,” Tina explained. “Beyoncé started her first red carpet at 15, and Blue is 14, so just seeing her out there looking confident and beautiful. It was déjà vu.”
Knowles also shared which outfits caught her eye at the gala.
“Yu-Chi Lyra Kuo had on this white angelic dress that was my favorite,” Tina raved. “There were many that I loved, but I love that one.”
When asked if Beyoncé is planning to release new music, Knowles had a serious response.
“I said before, I could tell you, but I’d have to kill you,” Knowles answered.
Speaking with Vogue, Beyoncé shared how it felt to share this moment with Blue.
“It feels surreal because my daughter’s here,” Beyoncé said. She looks so beautiful. It’s incredible to be able to share it with her, and I think she looks so incredible.”
After a ten-year hiatus, Beyoncé returned to the 2026 Met Gala as an official co-chair. Serving alongside Anna Wintour, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams, she helped lead the “Costume Art” exhibition under the “Fashion is Art” dress code. For the occasion, she shut down the carpet in an Olivier Rousteing-designed crystal skeletal gown paired with a dramatic feather cape and crown.
Known as the world’s most prestigious fashion event, the Met Gala is an annual fundraising event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to support its Costume Institute. Because the department is the only one at the Met that must fund itself, this single night typically generates its entire annual operating budget.
