Kevin Hart revealed that he wanted his roast to be as “brutal” as possible.
Airing on Netflix on Mother’s Day (May 10), “The Roast of Kevin Hart” was just what the comedian wanted.
“There’s more excitement about seeing what people bring to the table. The jokes that will be told will be enjoyed,” Hart said to “Extra.” I’m here to take on all that comes with the night.”
“If it’s not brutal, then you’re wasting my time,” Hart continued. “Don’t waste my time. Brutal or nothing.”
“But then I’m also here to return. That’s the beauty. See, there’s never been a comedian of this caliber to sit in the seat afterwards,” he added. “So, what you will see after is a very surgical response.”
Following Tom Brady’s 2024 roast, the Super Bowl champion expressed his regret over its impact on his family. When Hart was asked about Brady’s response, he said, “The difference between me and Tom Brady is that I’m not a b*tch!”
Hart also spoke about how he wants to be viewed by his peers and the industry.
“Look, at the end of the day, fun and jokes aside, I’m a good dude. I’m a good dude,” Hart said. “I’m full of good energy, which is why I provide and present nothing but good energy.”
“And I think I’ve gotten that in return, which is why a night like this can be had at this magnitude, of this level. We can have this type of fun,” he continued.
Streamed live from the Kia Forum in Los Angeles as the finale of the Netflix Is A Joke Fest, “The Roast of Kevin Hart was indeed brutal. Hosted by Shane Gillis, the three-hour “no-holds-barred” event featured a brutal lineup of roasters, including Cheyl Underwood, Jeff Ross, Chelsea Handler, Lizzo, and even a surprise appearance by Katt Williams. Hart and Williams squared their beef on stage.”
