Simone Biles is clapping back at critics who are mocking her vacation pics after her recent health scare.
On Instagram, one user asked why she’s on vacation in Belize when she claimed she almost died.
”Almost died but look at these traveling selfies…. 😂😂😂,” the user wrote.
Two days later, Biles responded.
”Ugh, these comments make me sad. A little over two weeks ago, I experienced a serious medical emergency that could have ended very differently,” Biles wrote. “And this trip has been part of allowing myself to heal & appreciate being here.”
“I hope you understand that life-changing experiences can shift your perspective. & that you’re able to extend a little more grace to others moving forward 😘 have a nice day!” Biles concluded.
Earlier this month, Biles revealed she had survived a terrifying, undisclosed medical emergency that resulted in a hospital stay. Taking to Instagram, she posted a photo of her wrist lined with multiple hospital bracelets.
Biles posted a sobering photo of her arm lined with hospital wristbands. She told fans she was bedridden, “resting this week”
She wrote “almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card” and called it one of the scariest experiences of her life. The situation was made even more stressful because the emergency occurred while her husband, NFL safety Jonathan Owens, was away in Indiana for offseason training with the Colts.
Biles has since reassured the public that she is safely recovering at home in bed alongside her dogs. She also has kept the exact nature of the health crisis private, promising to share more details with her fans once she has fully healed.
“I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age,” Biles wrote on her Instagram Stories. “But almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week.”
“This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life,” she continued/ “Especially since Jonathan [Owens] was in Indy for practices.”
“I’ve been in bed resting this week. I’ll explain sooner or later, but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers,” Biles added. “Loooovveeee y’all.”
