When it comes to R. Kelly’s personal life, Beyonce’s dad, Matthew Knowles, says it’s no problem.
The celebrity dad sat down with TMZ via video conference last night to share his views on R. Kelly and the Grammy-winning singer’s devastating documentary, Surviving R. Kelly.
“In the music industry, we first look at the professional side – right or wrong – we look at the professional side, not the personal side. That’s pretty continuous with the music industry, and that’s factual. And I think it’s a number of people that fall into that role: they’re not evaluated by their personal business, they’re evaluated by their creative business.”
TMZ translates Knowles words to say, “That meant giving him a pass for reportedly marrying 15-year-old Aaliyah in 1994…and settling a lawsuit with a woman claiming he had underage sex with her.”
For those who don’t know, the original four Destiny’s Child members (Beyonce, Kelly, LaTavia, and LeToya) recorded a track with Kelly when Bey was just 17 years old.
