1. What, when and where is the 2019 Circle of Sisters?

Circle of Sisters (COS) is the largest expo for Black Women in New York City. Produced and hosted by WBLS-FM, WLIB–AM, and Emmis Communications, COS hosts offers  a variety of empowering panel discussions, informative seminars, and entertaining performances, including a Gospel Explosion concert. More than 250 vendors and small businesses will also be onsite selling unique items and services all day. 

This year the event takes place on Saturday, September 7th, from 10am-10pm at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan.

Tickets are on sale NOW at CircleOfSisters.com. Prices are $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the event

The Gospel Explosion concert will take place in the Special Events Hall at COS at and feature performances by Hezekiah Walker with special guests, Anthony Brown, Jonathan Nelson, Yolanda Adams and many more!

In its fifteen years of production, COS has welcomed names such as Rev. Al Sharpton, Robin Roberts, Susan Taylor, Mayor Cory Booker, Misty Copeland, Terry McMillian, Nicole Ari Parker, Boris Kodjoe, Steve Harvey and the sounds of Faith Evans, Eric Benet, Fantasia, Tank, Jennifer Hudson, Salt ‘n’ Pepa, Bell Biv Devoe, Big Daddy Kane and Gospel powerhouses to bring the message home like Smokie Norful, Karen Clark Sheard, Kiki Sheard, Vickie Winans, Tye Tribbett, Deitrick Haddon and more.

2. How do I get to the Jacob Javits Convention Center?

By Car

There are many parking garages throughout the Javits Center vicinity. Please see our Parking Information Page for locations and phone numbers of convenient parking near the Javits Center. From the North (Westchester, Connecticut, Massachusetts) 

  1. Take 95 South (via the Cross-Bronx Expressway) to the George Washington Bridge.
  2. At approach to bridge, bear right to lower level.
  3. Exit at the last exit in New York–Parkway South–9A.
  4. Follow Parkway South (Henry Hudson Parkway/West Side Highway) to 42nd Street.
  5. Turn left. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right.

Saw Mill River Parkway/Henry Hudson Parkway/Route 9A 

  1. Follow 9A South to 42nd Street. Turn Left.
  2. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right.

New York State Thruway/Major Deegan Expressway/Route 87: 

  1. Take Major Deegan Expressway to George Washington Bridge exit. Stay in right lane towards lower level.
  2. Exit at the last exit in New York–Parkway South–9A.
  3. Follow Parkway South (Henry Hudson Parkway/West Side Highway) to 42nd Street. Turn left.
  4. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right.

From the South (New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Etc.) 

  1. Take 95 North to the New Jersey Turnpike. Exit at the Lincoln Tunnel. When exiting the tunnel, bear left.
  2. Follow signs for uptown or northbound to 42nd Street.
  3. Turn left onto 42nd Street until you reach 11th Avenue and turn left.

George Washington Bridge to Parkway South– 9A. 

At 42nd Street, turn left. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right.

From Queens and Long Island/Queens-Midtown Tunnel: 

  1. Take Southbound or Downtown exit to 34th Street and turn right.
  2. Go west to 12th Avenue and turn right on 12th Avenue to 39th Street where you turn right.

Queensboro/59th Street Bridge: 

  1. Take 60/61st Street Exit. Go to 5th Avenue alongside Central Park to 59th Street.
  2. Turn right onto 59th Street to 7th Avenue and turn left.
  3. Go two blocks to 57th Street and turn right.
  4. Follow 57th Street to 11th Avenue and turn left.

From Staten Island: 

  1. Verrazano-Narrows Bridge eastbound to the Gowanus Expressway, to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel.
  2. Exit westbound to the West Side Highway/12th Avenue.
  3. At 39th Street, turn right.
  4. Go one block to 11th Avenue.

Public Transportation


  1. M34: Runs east/west on 34th Street. Stops on 11th Avenue outside the Javits Center and at Penn Station.
  2. M42: Runs east/west on 42nd street. Stops directly outside the Javits Center and at Grand Central Station. Port Authority: The M42 will bring you from there to the Javits Center.


The 11th Avenue 7-Line subway stop is now open!  Just one block away from Jacob Javits Center!

The following trains stop at 34th Street/Penn Station:

  1. Amtrak, New Jersey Transit
  2. 8th Avenue and The Long Island Rail Road
  3. 7th Avenue and The Long Island Rail Road
  4. 6th Avenue
  5. Lexington Avenue

The following trains stop at 42nd Street/Times Square (Broadway): 

  1. Metro North Railroad trains stop at Grand Central Station at 42nd Street between Lexington and Vanderbilt Avenues.
  2. 8th Avenue Subway
  3. 7th Avenue Subway
  4. 6th Avenue Subway
  5. Lexington Avenue Subway

In just 4 minutes the ferry takes you across the Hudson River to 39th Street and 12th Avenue, just one block from the Javits Center. Just park at the convenient lot adjacent to the ferry terminal and take a ferry which leaves every 10 - 15 minutes during peak hours. Call 1-800-53-FERRY for schedule and information.

3. How much are tickets to the Circle of Sisters Expo?

Tickets purchased in advance to the Expo are $20 and will be $25 at the door. Tickets for the Gospel Explosion start at $30. To purchase tickets, visit CircleOfSisters.com online.

4. What forms of payment are accepted for tickets to the Circle of Sisters Expo?

Online, we accept credit and debit cards. At the door, we accept cash, credit and debit cards.

5. Do I need to bring my printed tickets to the Jacob Javits Center?

Yes, we will not be able to print tickets for you. You must bring your tickets with you or you will not be admitted to the Circle of Sisters. Or if you can show us your ticket on your smartphone, we can scan it for you from the screen of your phone.

6. What if I don't feel comfortable placing my ticket order online?

Unfortunately, for the Gospel Explosion Concert you must purchase online so that you can choose your seat.

7. Under what circumstances can I get a refund for my ticket?

Circle of Sisters and Gospel Explosion Concert tickets are non-refundable under any circumstances.  All purchases are final.

8. Can I bring my child to the event?

Certainly! Children are welcome at the Circle of Sisters Expo. Children under 10 years of age enter the expo FREE!

9. Can I bring a backpack or stroller to the Circle of Sisters Expo?

Absolutely; however, please note that the Circle of Sisters staff and their security departments reserve the right to search everyone.

10. Will there be a coat-check at the Circle of Sisters?

Yes, coat-check will be available at the Circle of Sisters Expo 2019.

11. Will there be food at the event?

There will be an array of quick-serve dining options available at the Javits Center.

12. Can I leave and re-enter the event?

Yes, you will be able to re-enter, however, you will have to have a wristband to do so. Without the wristband, there will be no re-entry.

13. Who produces the Circle of Sisters Expo?

Circle of Sisters is produced by WBLS-FM, and WLIB-AM of Emmis Communications Corp.

14. I am with the press. How do I get media credentials?

Media must register to attend before September 2. All requests should be completed via media credential form. Please include name, media outlet, copy of your media identification and sessions you wish to attend. WBLS Publicity has the right to refuse entry to any media outlet for any event.
