An East Harlem Church could be undergoing some renovations as it is set to be sold to real estate developers for $5 million.
According to reports, the-124-year-old Church of the Holy Rosary on East 119th Street will be sold to Kahen Development Group. The Archdiocese of New York signed off on the sale. The church was built in 1900 and is currently sitting abandoned.
Appraisal photos of the church show damage to the ceilings, walls, floors, and staircase. The church first went on sale in 2023. It was merged with another church, Saint Paul on East 117th Street. It would later become the primary location for the church masses as well as other activities.
Records reveal that the 119th Street church was deconsecrated in 2017. What are your thoughts on this?
