Mayor Eric Adams speaks on his decision to end the migrant program that provided debit cards to migrant families staying city-funded hotels, that allowed them to buy food.
On Thursday, Adams also spoke about the conversation he had with president-elect Donald Trump about working together to fix issues that New York City has including public safety, and affordability.
“I communicated with the president-elect to express the city’s needs and out intent to work together on behalf on New Yorkers,” Adams said. “The city must move forward and that is what our call is to do.”
Adams also revealed the views he share with Trump about public in which he responded, “All of us want to be safe, and that’s something we push for.” However, the mayor did not speak on if the immigrant policy was something that they discussed or Trump’s comments about mass deportations.
Mayor Eric Adams declined to answer any questions about his federal case and if Trump’s presidency will effect it. “His job is to fight on behalf of New Yorkers and defend the city.” Donald Trump has publicly spoke on the charges that Adams is facing and said, “I just want to be nice because I know what it’s like to be persecuted by the DOJ for speaking out against open borders.”
He added, “We were persecuted, Eric. I was persecuted, and so were you.”
