4-Year-Old Alannah George Taught Herself to Read + Earns IQ Score of 140 [VIDEO]

This 4-year-old is making history at a very young age.

Meet Alannah George, the second youngest member of Mensa; the world’s largest and oldest high IQ society.  Her parents Edmund and Nadine shared that their daughter started talking at just seven months old and began reading when she was 3-years-old. A genius! 4 year old scores 140 IQ; taught self how to read While the average adult IQ is 100, Alannah George at just four with a 140 IQ score, has been “certified” a genius of “superior general intelligence”, The Daily Mail reports. The young star made history last month after becoming the second youngest child to be admitted into the UK’s prestigious Mensa society – an elite society for people whose IQ ranks in the top 2 percent of the population. No surprise, Alannah’s parents, Edmund and Nadine George, always knew she was indeed special: at 7 months she said her first words and by 18 months was already speaking in full sentences. Alannah had always been fascinated with numbers and words choosing to recite the alphabet and multiplication tables instead of singing nursery rhymes At age 3, Alannah had learnt how to read. Nadine, Alannah’s mum says: “We used to read a lot of storybooks together and she just picked up reading on her own. She learnt herself before even school. She is coming in on leaps and bounds. It was the reading that freaked me out a bit, to be honest.” Alannah’s parents had her tested in January by educational psychologist Peter Congdon. She scored a 140 on the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence Test. The results confirmed that Alannah could read at a 7-year-old level and had the spelling skills of a 6 1/2-year-old. She was accepted into Mensa one month later. Upon being tested by educational psychologist Dr. Peter Congdon,  Alannah George earned an IQ score of 140 and was certified an “intellectual genius.” “She scored a 140 on the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence Test. The results confirmed that Alannah could read at a 7-year-old level and had the spelling skills of a 6 1/2-year-old. She was accepted into Mensa one month later.” Alannah’s parents are thrilled to be raising a genius, but they want her to have an “enriched childhood.” Her mother said, “I just want to make sure she reaches her full potential and is happy. The genius was given an intelligence assessment test earlier this year and earned an IQ score of 140 which led her to be accepted into the society. “It’s exciting and overwhelming. I want to make sure she achieves her potential and manages to perform to the best of her ability. She is so young but she lives and breathes academia. It was a scary realization when we got the results about how clever she is,” her mother told the news outlet. “I just want to make sure she reaches her full potential and is happy. That’s the main goal. I am in no way a pushy parent so we will support her with whatever she does.”
