A man is facing murder charges after a stabbing that stemmed from a fight over $15, according to court records.
As PEOPLE reports, Sincir Malik Porter, of Minneapolis, faces murder charges after a fatal stabbing on July 6.
The 21 year-old faces two counts of second-degree murder for over accusations of stabbing his 25-year-old roommate Abdirahman Adan Abdirahman, according to a probable cause statement. He remains behind bars at Hennepin County Jail where he is being held on $1 million bond, per online jail records.
Fatal Stabbing
Upon arrival to the scene, police observed a large amount of blood on the floor and walls in the living room, while a man was on the ground with a stab wound.
Abdirahman had been stabbed in the neck, police said; he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Porter reportedly told a third party on the scene that Abdirahman “made [him] flash out.” Witnesses allegedly told police that the 21-year-old had stabbed his roommate in the neck and fled the scene; a surveillance camera in the home confirmed the account, the police document stated.
“The roommates were lucky they didn’t get in his way”
According to the charges, surveillance video captured the two arguing over $15, with Porter reportedly holding a knife in his right hand before stabbing the man once in the neck. The victim then collapsed.
An officer eventually located Porter walking in the nearby neighborhood when he allegedly said, “Yeah, you got me” unprompted, according to charges.
In a post-Miranda statement, police say he admitted to stabbing him, and that he “had thought about killing [him] and his other roommates in the past.”
He also said that “the roommates were lucky they didn’t get in his way,” charges state.
