It is clear that people want Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas removed from his seat.
Reports say that a petition demanding Justice Thomas’s impeachment has reached 1.2 million signatures, which can possibly happen under the U.S. Constitution.
The petition states, “It now says the court is “effectively taking away the right to privacy and bodily autonomy that’s been considered legal precedent for the past 50 years. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas- who sided with the majority on overturning Roe – made it clear what’s next: to overturn high court rulings that established gay rights and contraception rights.”
On June 24th, the majority opinion for overturning the 1973 Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade was released and Thomas was one of the supporting justices.
He is currently the longest-serving member of the Supreme Court and the most senior member of its conservative wing. In 1991, Thomas faced sexual harassment allegations from Anita Hill, however, he denied them and the testimonies, “modern-day lynchings” of his character.
