Rockmond Dunbar has decided to part ways from the hit show 9-1-1 due to its new COVID-19 regulations that require the cast and crew to be vaccinated.
Reports say that Dunbar had provided multiple religious and medical exemptions, but, they were denied by the show’s production company, Disney TV Studios’ 20th Television.
“I applied for religious and medical accommodations pursuant to the law and unfortunately was denied by my employer,” he said.
The actor continued, “My sincerely held beliefs and private medical history are very intimate and personal aspects of my life that I do not publicly discuss and have no desire to start now.”
Dunbar also talked about his time on the show for the past five seasons. “I have enjoyed the last 5 seasons with this wonderful cast and crew and will cherish the time I’ve been blessed to spend with this series and wish everyone involved nothing but the best.”
Rockmond Dunbar, who played Michael Grant, was written off the show on Monday night’s Season 5, Episode 8 “Defend in Place.”
His role is currently being left open in the event that he and the production can come to an agreement.
